KATHINA ROBE OFFERING CEREMONY
& CONCRETE POURING FOR THE UBOSOT (CHAPEL)
.
.
The annual Kathina Robe Offering is taking place on Sunday 14th November this year at the Johannesburg Meditation Centre. Witness the saffron robe peaceful parade to offer them to the Buddhist monks — a 2,500-year continuation of the culture of peace.
.
The event starts at 11.11 a.m. when 11 Buddhist monks walk their round for alms. This has also been an event dated back to over 2,500 years. It is a good chance to meet with this number of monks in South Africa.
.
Complimentary food stalls are available for attendants — always from the hearts of the Thai community to contribute to this spiritual day.
.
As early as 1.00 p.m. we gather at the construction site of the Ubosot (Chapel) to pour concrete for the base stand of the presiding Lord Buddha. Every Ubosot must have Lord Buddha statue as the centre stage.
.
The day will close at 3.00 p.m. after we place a gold leaf on the Dhammachakkra above the Ubosot front entry door. An Buddha amulet will be given to all those who attend.
.
Take home with the energy, bliss and joy.
